Restore Default Appearance

If your skin doesn't look right or you want to go back to the default Codex appearance, follow these steps. The restore process is safe and reversible.

Quick Restore Options

Dream Skin

Run the restore script that came with your skin package.

./restore-dream-skin.ps1

Native Theme

Reset through Codex settings.

Settings → Appearance → Reset to Default

Restoring from a Dream Skin

Close Codex Desktop

Make sure Codex Desktop is completely closed before running the restore script.

Run the restore script

Open PowerShell (Windows) or Terminal (macOS) and run:

Windows:.\restore-dream-skin.ps1
macOS:./restore-dream-skin.sh

Restart Codex Desktop

Launch Codex Desktop again. It should now show the default appearance.

Restoring from a Native Theme

Open Codex Desktop

Launch Codex Desktop normally.

Go to Appearance Settings

Navigate to Settings → Appearance in the Codex menu.

Reset to Default

Click the "Reset to Default" button. This will restore all appearance settings to their original values.

Troubleshooting

The restore script doesn't work

Make sure you have the necessary permissions and that Codex Desktop is completely closed. On Windows, try running PowerShell as Administrator. On macOS, check that the script has execute permissions.

Codex still shows the skin after restore

Try restarting your computer. If the issue persists, you may need to manually delete the skin configuration files. See the safety page for more details.

I lost my custom theme settings

The restore script creates backups before making changes. Check the backup directory for your previous configuration files.
